The Adult Years

Rusty was in his prime about age 8 when the grand baby came into our lives. He was very curious about her and knew she needed his protection. He did not like it when she cried. He wanted to get in the bassinet and check her out for himself. He would always sniff her and lie down as close to her as he could.

When the baby started crawling, he would take some of her awkward moves, but he was not as tolerant as our old Labrador would have been . Rusty would just get up and move. He really wasn’t suited for children climbing over him, or pulling his tail. He knew when the grandson came along, to stay away when the boy was awake and mobile.
